From "Mandatory Gay Day for K-5 Students": "It is ironic that it is now illegal to hand out Bibles in a classroom, but you can hand out condoms." No. No it's not. Separation of Church and State, bitch. And thank His Noodliness for such. Ramen. The rest of that paragraph with the exception of the last sentence is totally irrelevant to what the article is about. The rest of that paragraph is complete bullshit. You know what you do about having to have a note to take aspirin at school? You break the damn rules and carry a bottle of aspirin or whatever medicine you take with you. Never in my four years of high school, and 3 high school changes, did I ever have any problems with doing such things. As for the having an abortion without consent thing, etc., etc., do you know what you do about that? You develop an EXCELLENT relationship with your child and let them know no matter what their decisions are, no matter how much you disagree with them, you still love them. Then maybe children will want to open up more to their parents and share intimate details with them rather than going to the school nurse. "The mandatory program, officially titled “LGBT Lesson #9,” was approved May 26 by the Alameda school district by a vote of 3-2. Students from kindergarten through fifth grade will learn about “tolerance” for the homosexual lifestyle beginning next year." GOOD!
As a recently former California high school student, I'm glad that my (original) 400 student, conservative town high school was exceptionally liberal on the teachings of what is "moral", how to handle sexual health, and how to treat others, no matter how different they were. I'm glad I knew about Planned Parenthood, because I don't know what I would have done after I had gotten raped (by someone who I knew was "dirty" and into LOTS of drugs. Thankfully, I never picked up an STI or became pregnant). I'm glad I know how to properly use a condom and take birth control. I'm glad I was very well informed about sexual health practices and how to know when something was off in my own body, whether or not I've had sex. I'm thankful that the 2000 student body school I attended in Southern California had a Gay and Straigh Alliance club, among other pro-alternative lifestyle clubs. I met some truly amazing people there, some of my first friends at that school actually. They showed me more compassion and friendship than any other group at that school. I'm so thankful for my "evil" liberal scholastic upbringing.
Best regards to a anyone,
Liberal child of a mainly conservative family
I find it hilarious (read Im INSANELY offeneded) that you include an article on racial intolerance, but fail to provide an article on LGBT discrimination.
As for the article about the teen getting an abortion, it's absurd that the mother is putting blame on the school. It's HER fault for not knowing the policy of the school towards mental care, prenatal care, and sexual and reproductive health. It is NOT the school's fault that the young woman trusted the school more than her own mother to get advice on what to do with her unplanned pregnancy and how to safely handle sex. A lot of districts and state's have a "confidentiality code" that they follow to protect the privacy of the student, so even if the school should have told the mother, it would have been unlawful for them. Some of the things the article failed to include was the relationship between the mother and daughter, the financial stability of the two, and the future of the daughter. It might not have occurred to you, but quite possibly the young lady didn't want to ruin her future or force herself into debt by having an unplanned pregnancy. Conservatives cry about the "rights" of the "child" to live, but what about the well-being of the human being ALREADY in existence, hmmm? Someone who's 15 and manages to be responsible enough to be on the honor roll, should have a little say in how their life plays out, school facilitated or not.
I agree showing 8th graders sexual positions is a little too much, but you're seriously bashing on them for showing how to properly put a condom on using a 3D model? Ridiculous. Need to learn how to use a condom and what a penis looks like someday. And at that, I would suggest they use a model of the female reproductive system, so that's familiar, too.
From the article about Kevin Jennings: "This bill would also extend to participation on opposite-sex sports teams. (Who knows what else will flow from the bill's protection of "free ... expression" of "gender identity"?)" America has seriously gone down the shitter. Excuse me while I go hide in my was-a-basement-now-a-fall-out-shelter.
From "School Official in Basketball Flap Is No Stranger to Controversy": "Parents who were unhappy with the class were even more outraged to learn that students who attended were asked to sign a statement promising not to tell others -- including their parents -- about what was said in class." Why do the parents need to know about a very personal and possibly traumatic experience of a gay child who isn't even theirs'? So they can reinforce the idea to their own child about how wrong those students are, and reinforce the antagonist's stance? "Parents were not allowed to attend the panel discussions, leading some to call it an attempt to indoctrinate students into a homosexual lifestyle." NO! It's to help those who have ever felt alienated by our "great" society just for being who they are. (continued)
nice post just keep posting i would like to hear more about this in future
